I wish I had read this during my school days mine were horrendous even at primary school I was bullied throughout ! But now I work in a school and the one thing I make sure I do no matter what kind of day I am having is I make sure I smile at every child and say hello or how are you because I really believe if someone had done that for me it would of made my school day just that bit brighter and do you know what the amount of kids that have come out of thier shells just by me repeatedly saying hello or even just smiling at the them is amazing !!!
I enjoyed my School Days, not because I was clever, it gave me an escape to be myself . I made friends from outside my local friends and it was good to hear about their backgrounds and different cultures. I didn’t have any qualifications when I left but along the way I have learnt lots of things from people who had a different outlook. I am going to show a young grandson your words .
Aww Mandy 🤗. I certainly had a love-hate relationship with school, never felt like I fit in (still don’t in a lot of settings) and was usually the one the others fell out with and was left sitting in a corner of the playground alone. I was told by the careers man, Mr Parratt, that I would never make the grade for a librarian (my lifelong ambition) he laughed in my face and told me I would be pregnant soon so I didn’t need to worry about a job! I did tell him he was wasting my time! I never did become a librarian but I would love to tell him that I achieved two university degrees, had a professional career in Human Resources and health and safety that has spanned more than 40 years and had my family when I chose to along the way. I guess he’s dead now but i had the last laugh. School is just the starting point, not the destination. Have a great week xxx
So much pressure put on all for school days to be a certain way, and we can't, with the best will in the world, all have the most amazing time, and in the grand scheme of things, it's not the be all and end all, either! 💛🙏🏼💛
