Like you I shall be in my bed by 9:30 and in my pjs beforehand spending my New Year’s Eve cuddled up on the sofa with the dog ! To me that’s perfect ! Again like you 10 o clock is a late night and does me no justice in the morning I need my sleep!
I wish you all the best for the new year and keep being you !!!
I could have written this myself. The only reason I’ve found to still be awake at midnight, at any time, is that the book is so good I can’t put it down.
Plan for tonight is cold ham, jacket potato and salad, possibly followed by Christmas chocolates, something on television probably something I’ve already recorded and bed by 10 with my book - the Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels in case anyone is interested 😂
🎉🎉🎉HAPPY NEW YEAR🎉🎉🎉
To you and your family Mandy and to everyone else reading this 😘
We have always had a small part-ay at home but since moving to the middle of nowhere 6 yrs ago that's ended and thank the lord. Our dogs hated fireworks when in town and now we hear nothing apart from the hoot of an owl at midnight. I also don't drink much and hate hangovers and have been told it's unlucky to celebrate the NY with sparkling water well that would explain the awful year we've just experienced!
Good riddance to 2022 and bring in 2023 and the promise of hope and all good things (you've gotta have faith as my beloved George Michael said)
A Happy New Year one and all but just without the razzamatazz.
Love this. The expectation to have to go out and celebrate is crazy. I’ll be having a quiet night and maybe a walk around midnight to see the fireworks, unless it’s raining then I’ll watch them on the telly 😂
Bless you! Amanda! I am with you on this. I was going out for an early curry but the friend I was going with is under the weather and so it’s take-away curry for one! A good book and the End of the Year show determinedly switched off! (I detest that show).
I have a bottle of Prosecco and feel no shame in not sharing it.
I’m sending you huge hugs for your year of firsts without Simon, I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I’m looking forward to the release of Picking up the Pieces and I hope that 2023 is a happy, healthy and successful year for you.
This has been me and my husband for years, we went to bed as early as we felt we needed to and listened to the radio, before falling asleep to be woken up at midnight by fireworks and the party revolver’s wishing all the best(same people every year).
This year I did the same but put ear plugs in as I couldn’t bear the thought of hearing all the jolly going’s on 😞 while having to sleep in a bed without the love of my life.
This morning me and my son set out on a walk 11.5 miles, so while all the revolver’s were nursing a hangover we enjoyed our beautiful hills around where we live all in training for our Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge 🥾
Let’s hope we both can carry this next year on as our lost loved ones would want us too.
Take care
Fiona
P.s Thank you for writing Tangerine, I’ve really missed them
Omg we are twins I can relate to every word you’ve written. I wish you Simeon and the boys a very Happy New Year and look forward to reading more of your books. Keep up the good work and feel free to slob in your pjs messy hair and no make-up is the order of the day. Love you xxx
I’m sitting half watching Graham Norton and just reading your New Year message. Wishing you and your family Love, Health and joy despite the loss this year has brought to you 💕😘🙏
Back in the day we used to stay in NY and go to my brother’s party. Now we drive home on New Years Eve. We are asleep by 9, but having been up since 3 AM, I’m ok with that.
Great article. Made me smile, so thank you for that! I hope the passing of the old year is not too painful for you, or at the very least, bearable. I wish you health, success and happiness for the New Year. With much love x
I'm so inclined to agree with you, Sis, on many points, here!
I do love a gathering. Parties, I shine at.
But, I flag by 10pm.
The last few years, we've been at the in-laws. Seen the clock strike midnight, said our happy new year's, and made our way home.
Last year we did that earlier, so we could see the new year in, in our new home.
This year will be the same.
We will stay up.
But I'll be in my pjs (new ones, for a new year!) probably nursing a tea or got choc, rather than bubbles .
I mean, yes, it is a new year, and all that, but, it's still just another day, isn't it?
Aside from the crazy fireworks, we won't wake to a different view, a huge change in circumstance, will we?
And, 2022 has been a bit of an up and down year...
I know each year brings highs and lows.
Just hoping 2023 will be a bit gentler on us all...
Wishing you a very Happy New Year, Sis, abd, hopefully more opportunities to meet 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Darling I look forward to sharing a cuppa with you in 2023 - may it be a good one Xxx

I shall be holding my doggies close for all the fireworks - they hate them! Xxxxx
I am like you, and can't be doing with it all ! 😉
I watch the New year in on the tele ( in bed), then wait for the fireworks around here to stop, before snuggling down.
Happy New Year my lovely, and I wish you all a healthy one.
Much love

New Year’s Eve can be very bittersweet 💕 spend it how you feel most comfortable and raise a cup/mug/glass to absent friends.
2023 will roll in with new possibilities!
