Love this post. I agree with enjoying old and recycled things. I too wonder about what was happening in those awesome people, who they were, their history, etc! BTW what is a skip? Judy

Your home sounds wonderful and exactly how I like a home to be. I like mixing old and new and like browsing in second hand shops. I like a house with ‘soul’ and ‘heart’ and it sounds as if your home has that in abundance. Will you be doing tours? I’d like a peek!!

I love your home. It’s truly beautiful with its own unique style. I used to live in a two up two down cottage with lots of clutter - 2 kids of opposite sex shared a room until age 12&10!!! Now I live in a 4 bed detached house which is modern and uncluttered but with far less character. I still have too much ‘stuff’ though. It’s amazing how 2 people can fill so many rooms 😊

Love this and would rather visit your house, or i should say home, than a magazine cover one. Mine will be a nightmare for my poor family to sort when I finally depart! Lol

Okay second attempt without a mass of spelling errors!

I love this post Amanda I can just see you rooting through the skips looking for old furniture. And out there in the garden putting all your washing through the mangle after you’ve hand washed it in the kitchen. Seriously though this is wonderful you must’ve had so much fun sourcing all your special items and if ever you decide to do an open house I’ll be there. Keep recycling ❤️❤️❤️

My greatest find was a dining table in a pub skip! I stopped in my old Golf and lobbed it into the back of my car - it's still going strong! X

Your house sounds so idyllic! And hearing that you treasure the embroidery work is music to my ears as I do dabble in a bit of cross stitch and I hope that some of my works will be treasured after spending hours upon hours on them

Louise I just adore them and think of all those hours and hours someone spent in a chair, thinking, crying, happy, worrying, chatting - it all goes into how those pictures make me feel! Xx

This is just so 'you'! And I could easily feel at home, there! 🥰

I am more of a sentimental decorator, too, wanting pieces of my family history around me.

However, I'm married to My Wannabe Minimalist!

He wants all the mod cons, all sleek white and brand spanking new!

We compromise, but it's a work in progress!
